Masayo Odahashi finds her themes and subjects in everyday life. At first glance, they don’t appear to be matters of great import. It might be a color, a form, an old object, a memory or a traditional Japanese fairy tale. “I pick something up, try to combine some points and finally have a form developed out of this process. My work is also important for myself,” states the young artist. Masayo Odahashi has been awarded numerous prizes and awards, including a prize at the International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa. more...

Artwork of the month

Josepha Gasch-Muche

Josepha Gasch-Muche Josepha Gasch-Muche manufactures her generally large scale glass objects in the form of wall panels by arranging layers of wafer-thin splintered glass, in an endless variety of shapes, on canvas or hard grounds and fixing them almost invisibly. The structure and composition of her objects are created through differences in thickness and orientation of the layers. The artist uses thousands of broken LCD, or “display” glass splinters (150 micrometers) for her fascinating art objects, which, depending on the angle of the incident light, continually change their appearance. Gasch-Muche’s fascinating work has been presented at „The International Exposition of Sculpture Objects and Functional Art“ at Chicago. Her wall works have a new dimension, she is the new german shooting-star! more....
